In order to attract birds to your garden, you need to provide them with food, a home and security. That is all they need. Having birds in the garden provide life to your garden; therefore, you need to make sure that you meet the basic needs of your birds to attract them and to ensure that they stay in your garden.
Food! If there is plenty of food available in your garden, birds will be attracted to it and they will surely stay. Make sure that there are sufficient seeds and peanut feeders in your garden along with natural food. Planting bushes in your garden with berries is a good way of providing food for your feathery companion.
Once you have the food covered, you will need to work on providing them with a comfortable home. Nesting sites with shade provide the perfect homes for birds. The size of your garden, how bird-friendly it is and its location will all determine if birds will feel at home in your garden. The closer your garden is to the countryside or wooded parks, the more at home birds will feel.
Once the food and the home are covered, you need to work on the security. You need to make them see that if they stay in your garden, all of their basic needs will be met. Start by making sure that your feeders are always full. As long as food is available, they will make do with the other accommodations. Provide hedges with cover to allow them to create their own natural nesting sites. If they are able to create a home for themselves, they will develop a bond with it and will not leave easily.
Once you have provided your birds with food, a home, and security, you can sit back and enjoy the presence of your birds in your garden. You should monitor them as they change or as they increase in number. Compare the different species and observe their habits. Focus on how their environment impacts them so that you can make necessary changes in order to make sure that your birds stay in your garden.
